Existing eMusic users and bargain-hunting independent music lovers will be interested to know that eMusic is running a "special offer" on annual subscriptions until June 30th. Subscribers who are willing to pay up-front for a year's subscription will get a 20% discount off the monthly subscription price, which until now has been the only way you could subscribe. The basic monthly subscription offers 40 downloads per month for $9.99, a price of $0.25 cents per track. A basic annual subscription will cost $95.90 per year, or a price of $0.20 per download.

If this test succeeds, eMusic may offer this as a permanent option. Numerous other services offer similar discounts in exchange for a longer commitment.
