Increasingly, the gift of online music is an option for holiday shoppers. Is little Suzie getting an iPod for Christmas? Then consider helping her fill it by buying her an iTunes gift card or certificate. The gift cards come in $15 and $25 amounts and can be bought at the following stores: Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, or Target. Or they can be bought online at Amazon.com or at the iTunes Music Store. Shopping at the last minute? Then buy an iTunes electronic gift certificate, which can be delivered by e-mail.
If she's getting a Windows-based music player, consider buying her a Musicmatch gift certificate that will allow her to get Windows compatible WMA downloads or—better yet—a subscription to Musicmatch On-Demand. Napster offers similar gift certificates as well download cards that be purchased at Best Buy, Target, Radio Shack, Rite-Aid and 7-Eleven stores. Rhapsody gift subscription cards can be purchased at Best Buy stores. For the independent label music lover, consider a gift subscription to eMusic, where the downloads come in MP3 format and can be played on practically all portable music players, iPod included.
Another good option is to give the gift of Internet radio, ad-free. Live365 is now offering gift certificates online. You can purchase them in the following increments: one month ($5.95), three months ($14.85), six-months ($26.70), and one-year ($47.50).
