Fellow Yahoo instant messenger users can now see what's playing on your personal radio station-thanks to the newest version of Yahoo Messenger. Users of Yahoo's LAUNCHcast radio service can now play their stations and rate music without having to leave the Messenger application. They can also display the currently playing song on their IM status line, alongside their name, for other users to see.
For some time now LAUNCHcast users have been able to communicate with fellow music fans using Yahoo Messenger. Fans of a given song, artist, or album are listed on the LAUNCHcast Web site, along with their availability on Yahoo Messenger.
Other notable features of the Messenger-based player include the ability to quickly access the pre-programmed radio stations on LAUNCHcast, and the ability access play, stop, and pause commands from the Windows task bar. By default, the program filters out music with explicit lyrics (handy if you are listening at work), but an option menu lets you turn this filter off.
